Welcome to the next generation of belay devices. With traditional belay devices there has always been a trade-off; to get a really positive lock-off you've had to accept a slow and jerky feed, while devices with a fast feed have always left you wondering if you can really save your partner's butt if she takes a flyer. The unique double V-notch of Jaws (patents applied for) results in fast and secure lock-offs for hard falls and gives an extraordinarily smooth feed when yarding out rope for a quick clip, regardless of what rope or rope combination you're using. Jaws is the ideal belay device for use with twin ropes because the V-notches will catch an 8 mm rope as well as they do an 11. Rappels are smooth and controlled with Jaws. The large rope slots make it easy to set up the rappel, the V-notches control the speed and the flat rope path really prevents kinking. For low-angle slab rappels you can turn Jaws around so the free end of the rope runs over the smooth side. Weight: 73 gm; Assorted Colors.
