Static Rope In the last few years, more and more climbers understand the merits of static ropes for climbing situations. Static ropes offer big wall and expedition climbers a perfect low stretch, high strength rope for fixing, jumaring and hauling. Sterling Rope revolutionized static rope with the creation of its SuperStatic Rope, the original 48-carrier sheath in 7/16" and 1/2". Typical static ropes are made on 16- or 32- carrier machines with less twist in the cover yarns. These ropes have a much coarser, stiffer hand, exposing much of the yarn to abrasion -- a leading cause of early rope retirement. Sterling's unique sheath provides a more supple hand, making the rope easier to use. This sheath also reduces vibration allowing for more control while jumaring, and rappeling. And, with the 48-carrier sheath, less yarn is exposed to abrasion. With less bulk in the sheath, we can add more yarns to the core giving you a stronger rope. The other most significant difference between Sterling static and all others is DryCore Expedition, big wall and alpine climbers often expose their ropes to extreme wind, rain, and snow, with DryCore, your rope will stay dry, supple, and strong longer.
HTP This revolutionary new concept in static ropes offers notable advantages over nylon static ropes: extremely low elongation, less than 1% stretch per 300-pound load, greater durability, greater resistance to UV and chemicals, and the highest tensile strengths for their size.
Because they have 1/3 the stretch of nylon, HTP statics may be a better alternative for jumaring and hauling, reducing bounce and fatigue. Polyester is a stronger more durable fiber than nylon. HTP provides better protection from sharp rock, excessive jumaring, and rappelling on fixed lines.
Sterling offers two diameter ropes, the 3/8" (10 mm), and 7/16" (11.1 mm), for climbing applications. The 3/8" is a high strength, low stretch rope, ideal for anchors, lightweight fixing, and hauling or "tag" line. The 7/16" is better suited for climbing situations where there will be excessive amounts of heavy jumaring, hauling, and high exposure to sharp rock.
HTP Static is also available in 1/2" (12.7 mm), and 5/8" (16 mm). The 1/2" is a two person rescue/rappel rope. An amazing rope with a tensile strength of over 12,000 pounds! It's low elongation makes it perfect for rescue haul systems. 48-carrier sheath construction gives this rope super durability and suppleness. Appropriate for tower construction, short haul helicopter rescue, high angle technical rescue, and industrial safety applications. The 5/8" (16 mm) is the strongest life safety rope we make with over 15,000 pound tensile strength! A super heavy duty rope with a soft hand. Great for tower constructors, bridge work, utility and industrial safety applications.
